If only this had been in our toolbox a year ago when we struggled to install a suspended ceiling in the basement. This little guy puts out an actual laser line vertically, horizontally, or at any angle. It's wonderfully simple and dead-on accurate. Just position the alignment notch with the guidance of the dual bubble levels, push the tabs to anchor the self-retracting pushpins, and raise the lens cover for hands-free accuracy. The recessed rubber grip offers sure handling, but this tool also sports an impact-resistant body, just in case. Hardly bigger than a 25-foot measuring tape, this tool will tuck nicely into any toolbox and serve decorators, builders, remodelers, and do-it-yourselfers equally well. It doesn't come with batteries, so have two AAs on hand. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Strait-Line 64001 Laser Level reviews by customers
Good little level for the $ I recently bought this level and as a carpenter that works alone a lot of the time i have found this to be a super little reference tool. Works great for putting up suspended ceiling tracks in particular.
New uses all the time I bought this unit a few weeks ago and I find new uses for it almost everyday. Originally I bought it to help me shoot a reference line for a tile floor I laid. It worked great for that, so I used it to hang some pictures at the same angle as my hand rail was on my steps, then I used it to line up some shelves in the garage and for mounting my surrond speakers the same height throughout the room. I recommend this for anyone who does anything around the house or in the garage.
Too much money -- get a pencil and ruler instead I thought this would be a nifty quick high tech solution to hanging pictures, marking for shelves, etc. Unfortunately the product is flawed for several reasons a) the laser is cheap and does not draw a straight beam of light for more than 6ft. b) tool has no easy way to attach to the wall except by making two holes with sharp punch pins (get out the spackle!) c) trying to use this tool causes grief and possible need of counseling... In summary, using small pencil marks with an old-fashioned tape rule is still superior and I am sure that most pros agree that this is an overpriced, overhyped, piece of junk. Compare to the price of pencil and you'll be even more disgusted. I only wish I could get my refund and more to cover the cost my frustation with unlevel results.
