 I Live on This! The Darker the Roast the Better
Starbucks Espresso Roast is hands down my all time favorite beverage. I drink this incredible dark roast, which makes it taste (and smell) so great, day and night. After trying so many different roasts, the whole beans in this one are awesome. The flavor is so rich. Once you drink this, you'll never go back to weak, poorly grown, watered down, bland so-called coffee. The Arabica beans are what to look for that make this full body coffee so great.
If you are interested to learn more about the coffee beans, you might want to get a copy of the book "Pour Your Heart into It: How Starbucks Built a Company One Cup at a Time" by Howard Schultz. (He's the man who made "STARBUCKS" what it is today.) It's a great book that explaines all about the coffee beans and more.
As for coffee, this one is hands down the best.
Has Starbucks changed their roast recently?
It seems like about a couple months ago there appeared this odd but distinct new smell to most of Starbuck's coffee. Mainly in the Expresso, but lesser in breakfast blends.
Anyone else notice this? Expresso used to be my favorite, but that odd bitter new smell bumped Breakfast to my top.
Great Coffee
As for espresso coffee, this is the best by far. I own a pavoni europiccloa lever machine and have made home espresso everyday for the past 11 years. To date, Starbucks is the best coffee and the only coffee I have used for the past couple of years (I have tried Lavazza and Illy recently and simply was disappointed).
I was skeptical about using starbucks at first because I figured like Dunkin Donuts it will simply not taste the same at home. I was dead wrong. Plus the thought of using something non-italian just did not seem right.The crema you get from Starbucks is still the best. And I have heard critics say that starbucks tase burnt. However, I think the burnt comment comes from the lack of a bitter aftertaste you get with most espresso coffee. To me, the lack of a bitter aftertaste is exactly what I like about starbuck's espresso. You definitely get a bitter aftertaste with Illy and Lavazza.
Unlike their regular coffee, starbucks espresso is top notch.
